DSL Embedded :: dsl-embedded won't run...visibly, at least.

I tried running dsl-embedded in windows 2000 on a dell optiplex gx260.  Qemu starts up, and presently the window resizes and sometimes I see a narrow strip of the dsl desktop at the bottom of the window, but that's all I get.  Can't use it at all.  Video problem, do you think?
Update - got it to run visibly by setting color depth to 16 instead of 32 bits in windows.  Just in case someone else runs into this problem...
thanks man...i had the same horrible problem.
i thought it was never gonna work, being some crazy driver incompatibility.  Dropping down Color Quality from High 24 bit to Medium 16 bit as you say, did the trick!

I'm having a similar problem with embedded (1.3.1) on my Kingston Elite. I can run it fine from Windows, but when I try running it from within Linux, I get one of two problems. Using command line I get a "command not found" error, and double-clicking on dsl-linux.sh through nautilus gets a window to pop up and then disappear almost instantly.

Any suggestions?

dsl-embedded won't run - "cannot find the file 'qemu\qemu.exe' " although it is present - tried starting another linux-image through same qemu.exe without problems.
Same problem on a different PC - both running win2k
