DSL Ideas and Suggestions :: Need a SWAP file on hdd to work better !
[B][I] Knoppix 3.3 refused to work on my Notebook with 64mb RAM (ho hdd at that time) but after connecting a 540 mb hdd
Knoppix offered me a choice: to create a knoppix.swp file sized
between 64-128mb - which i did and it worked perfectly afterwards
(hdd has FAT16 with 300mb occupied by Win98
out of 540 total) So we would like to see the same feature in the next DSL ! Automatic hdd detection and SWAP creation ! May be it would be possible to remove the DSL cd from the tray and put a musical mp3 CD instead
you already can read cds if you choose knoppix toram option at boot
you need 128 mega of ram thought
it is impossible with 64 mega
unless you hd/install, of course.
up!
please, read this post!!!!
it`s a great idea!!
Automatic swap partition creation is not a good idea. Surely the whole point of "live" distros is that you can run from the CD and they don't affect the PC in any way.
If your going to use a swap partition then you may as well run the whole system from the HD.
