I've never seen an "unmount" command before...

Is it different from "umount" ??

( I couldn't resist! )

 What kind of cruel prankster would remove the n from unmount???

Thanks, works just fine now.  umount.  the n has been removed from all of my documentation and the examples I was trying to follow.  I would have sworn I saw an n.

I need to make an alias.

Your post cracked me up because when I first learned how to mount/umount devices I must have typed "unmount" a dozen times before I finally got the hang of typing "umount"  :D

Chris

try this
Code Sample
root@box:~$ umount /dev/[device]

notice that there is no "n" in umount.

oh and one more thing,

can emelfm's default editor be changed from nedit to scite for the next release? its a little annoying to have to do this myself with every install. Or remember to click "Open With". la~

Who was the UNIX genius who decided that the word 'unmount' was just too big and 'umount' is perfect?

Obviously he never heard of the first rule of user interface design:

If your user has to read a manual to figure it out, your interface is already a failure.

I can understand abbreviating the thing down to something like 'um' for brevity's sake but 'umount'?  Get real.
