Don't know - I like easy ways ;p

If you just want specs you can use torsmo, System Stats (as roberts suggested), or just read out dmesg. (unless you really do want a screenshot during boot... )

i think i remember once on the forum somebody actually got out their video camera, recorded the whole thing and posted it on youtube!

Still no definite answer to whether you need shots of your specific system, or just shots.
