I think only OO.org has very good MS Word support. The MS word format often changes between versions.
dare2dreamer... re spell check

.I installed abiword.dsl..then apt-get stable aspell then apt-get stable libenchant1 abiword now spellchecks..may work for you

Hi!!

Finally I got abiword 2.2.7 running fine. But don't ask me how... I just turned off my pc on friday and turned on yestarday.
But that version seems to manage the ms-word documents fine.

Regarding to spanish keyboard, I didn't have any problem. All accents and "Ñ" works fine. Still I didn't try any pluggin with the spanish spell checking. By the way I don't know yet if it's available for abiword.
I'm thinking that DSL is just great!

Saludos!

Hi, I need to use Wordperfect on linux (heavily formatted docs) or else I will be forced to dual boot Windows. Nightmare getting WP 8.0 or 9.0 for Linux to work on Ubuntu or Suse.  Am thinking it may work on DSL, and got as far as seeing it in Elfm on the CD but clicking on the install executable didn't do anything.  Has anyone tried? Alternatively, I may put Corel OS as a dual boot on one of my older DSL boxes, all now running BOINC. Any tips on how to set that up as a dual boot? Thanks.

I tried this now in September 2007 on DSL 3.4.2 and it no longer works.

I installed apt-get, and it found and installed aspell. However, there no longer appears to be a libenchant1 package in the Debian repository. If there is, apt-get isn't seeing it.
