Apps :: Rdesktop at 1024 x 768

I am a complete noob with Linux and DSL, so be patient with me.

I just purchased a Fanless Barebones Mini-ITX from DSL. I popped in 1gb and John put in the IDE Disk On Module with DSL.  I bought it because I wanted a completely silent machine for three purposes (in order by my priorities).

1) Use to control a Windows machine via RDP.  Here is where I failed, more about that later.

2) Use to control a different Window machine using VNC.  No problem, that worked great.

3) As a "silent" internet appliance.  Again, no problem, that worked great.

So, here is my problem.  I need to be able to use Rdesktop at 1024 x 768 video resolution.  I can't seem to make that happen.  I can link and control using Rdesktop, but it always appears in 800x600 resolution.  That just isn't sufficient for my needs.  The program I must control requires 1024 x 768

I have searched these forums and found this question addressed a few times.  However, none of those threads have really indicated sucess.  And, every example I have tried has failed to modify the resolution. :(

Should this work?

I have tried  "rdesktop -g 1024x768"  and "rdesktop -f" to no avail.

Thanks for any assistance.

rdesktop -g wxh works here... what's your error/warning output?  Perhaps the your server is restricting you.

-f is for fullscreen, wont help you there.

You can run rdesktop just by itself for more options.

No error/warning.  It connects successfully, just at the wrong resolution.

Don't think the server can be limiiting it, other RDP clients connect correctly.

Thanks for your reply, at least it confirms I'm using the correct command.

have you tried forcing it to any other resolutions?  say 1280x1024?  Do they work?  Might help to troubleshoot if its something specific to the 1024x768 resolution or if rdesktop just always runs at 800x600.

Just for the heck of it, I tried on my systems here...one win2k3 and another win2000...both accept 1024x768 connections from my DSL laptop running rdesktop.
