Apps :: Xastir MyDSL remaster

Using DSL 3.4.1 here

Ive got the xastir ext going ok and very happy with that. Also the config saves and reloads with the mydsl= boot option. Xastir actually creates a new set of folders when it runs . In particular /KANOTIX/usr/share/xastir/maps and /KANOTIX/usr/share/xastir/sounds . These dont get saved anywhere on shutdown and I have to use MC in SU mode to copy the maps and sounds  back across from hda1 every time I run it cold and reindex the maps. Its a similar problem with 2 other live distros that have xastir on them but you cant get maps going at all with them. The locations of these maps and sounds are determined in the compile from memory. Frankly xastir is dissapointing without maps. It seems to run well and is even compiled to work with raster maps so well done there. Its just not practical with the maps and sounds. If it could be compiled with a map and sound directory that would bakup then it would have something going for it.

How can I get it to remaster? Thats the other issue. Ive tried to use the MyDSL remaster option in the tools menu the iso burns fine but it wont boot. It stops and says it cant find the knoppix image. Its like running a boot floppy with no available boot images. The iso came out at 60megs with xastir on there. There was alot of errors in the iso creation process "could not carry something over" or similar.

Maybee I have to remaster the whole DSL CD to get this to work right but Ive no idea where to start there. Ive got lots of experience with xastir myself but Linux is a steep learning curve for me

Any comments appreciated

Made some progress with this. Ive managed to create a few MAP exts using tar.gz type MyDSL exts. These load each time I boot up DSL. Ive also done the same with sounds and an Icon and some Kiss TNC intialization scripts. Just need to manage the remaster now.
