Multimedia :: Req for new alsa ...

Has anyone had luck compiling a recent alsa ?
I'm specificity interested in snd-sgalaxy,
Also as I'm running xfree86 instead of xvesa I noticed that the mplayer compiled for xvesa has alsa plugin while the one for xfree86 doesn't, A miss ? I'll need an alsa plugin for it later if I'll get a recent alsa driver...
