Net :: FreeNX client Audio setup (Thin Client)

I've got nxclient running under dsl and the sound (via nxesd) works just fine. I'm connecting to the freenx server. Your applications (server side) need to output to esound.

When you say "via nxesd" how did you accomplish this?

The linux (and specifically in this case the nxclient.tar.gz extension) version of the NXclient automatically launches NXesd for you, assuming you've checked "enable multimedia support" in the client.

With the most recent version of the client (which I believe is currently in the testing repository) I had nothing more to do than make sure the server used esound on the application's output and the client had the "enable multimedia" box checked.

to ensure we are talking about the same extension, this is the version I'm using:

Title:          nxclient.tar.gz
Description:    NoMachine's NX Client, v1.5.0.
Version:        1.5.0-135

If you can't find it in testing, let me know and I'll post it somewhere. I've pretty much ad-hoc'ed myself as maintainer of the extension, largely for the selfish reason of using it so damnedly often. :-)

Only thing I did was enable multimedia support, and then make sure that each of my applications was using esound/esd as an output source.

I have little or no experience with nxclient on windows, however.
