I would like to use a firewire camera on DSL. At first view, it seems to doesn't work. Do you think ieee1394 is supported by DSL ?

Yes, it is supported by hotplug. My firewire card is recognized on bootup. The camera needs a utility to control it, like Kino, for example.

Try using "Synaptic" to find and install a Linux program that can extract data from a "firewire" or ieee1394 video camera.
