>Being such an experienced sysadmin, then I would think you >might know the module(s) required for your particular chipset. And I've already, a number of times now, told you exactly what they are. >If not maybe google it? Any experienced admin would know >how to do an insmod. And I believe I've already stated that I've done that right? I use insmod and modprobe every day. I already said I've loaded the prism2_cs modules, and they loaded with no errors. So what are you talking about? >Pretty easy so far? Then try the wlanctl-ng commands. Well duh. And yes, I've done the wlanctl-ng commands -- it says "no device found" >Need an example? Try looking at the /usr/local/bin/prism2.sh I'm quite well versed in using the linux-wlan-ng stuff, been doing it a long time in debian, redhat, and slackware, and also familiar on my ipaq. So what's wrong with dsl? This same card works perfectly with both prism2_cs and hostap_cs in all those other distros -- whats wrong with dsl? I also use linux-wlan in debian with a usb linksys wusbll v2.5 wifi nic. If I boot the dsl cd on that machine, dsl loads the prism2_usb for that linksys nic just fine, so I have to presume it isn't a faulty driver. >Without actually having this card, I would be shooting in the >dark. You don't need the card -- it's an Intersil prism2 chip. What I'm asking is where are the config files -- obviously dsl does this quite differently that other distros, the whole pcmcia config is different. I'm looking for basic information here, not asinine sarcastic remarks like you've been posting. Do you have trouble reading english? I posted all the applicable info on this in the first post, and have repeated it since -- but you just totally ignore it and reply with childish garbage. |

I was only responding in like terms of your posts. Do you really think it necessary to ask for help by making disparaging remarks. Does doing so give anyone imptetus to even respond? I think not. I am only sorry that I did respond in like terms. |

hseaver, I have only been playing around with linux for a couple of years now and have never messed with unix, aix, hpux, etc. So, I supose this makes me a retard compared to you and your skill level. However, I have never had a problem getting prism2 stuff to work using DSL. They way your questions are percieved will not get you any help. Perhaps the "other" OSes that you mention are what you know and maybe you should stick with them if that is what works for you. Did you perform a search of the forum? There are many things in the forums regarding prism, pcmcia, wlan, etc. I just did a quick search and found some info that may be relevant to your questions. But I am not going to do the search for you because you have so much experience, I am sure that you can do it better than I can. Best of luck of to you. P.S. No, I am not be sarcastic. I am serious. |
