System :: RPM to DEB problem
I have in /home/dsl two rpm files which I extracted from a compressed file I'd earlier downloaded from Lexmark. Numerous people using Debian and Ubuntu have reported being able to convert those two files to deb files as a prelude to installing them.
I've tried to convert both of them using the aliendeb.dsl, but haven't succeeded with either. After failing, I appended to each of the relevant commands "&>filename.txt" when re-running them. According to my dim understanding, that would mean that all output which would have appeared on the screen instead went to the named file.
I've looked at the output from each command. It was identical. Almost all of it consisted of telling me that "rpm" was an "invalid option" and giving me rpm's usage. I was also given the usage of "chmod", "find", "xargs" and "mkdir" and told "-/debian/changelog: No such file or directory at /usr/share/Perl5?Alien?Package?Deb.pm line 330".
I assume that I might be able to find someone running Debian who could convert the two files to deb files for me. Is there any chance that I would then be able to install those files or should I give up now?
