Release Candidates :: DSL v3.4RC1

There will not be an 3.4RC2. I want to move this version to production.

Perhaps not much feedback is a good thing?
I have fixed the acpi scripts per Juanito's feedback.

If no one is having an issue with backup/restore, regular or bcrypted, then I can move 3.4RC1 to 3.4

I want to make room for the first alpha of 4.0, but would like validation of the critical area of backup/restore before I do.

Thanks,
Robert

I have not had any issues with the regular backup/restore - I never use bcrypt so I can't comment on that.
Hi there,
I've been testing the new acpid capability, and i can report that there's a good improvement. Now with 3.4RC1 my old TP 600e laptop battery last around 1 hour instead of 20  mins with DSL 3.3:cool:
Now i'll try to setup xset and save more battery.

There are a number of utilities that use acpid's event detection to provide various power saving functions - cpufreqd to control the cpu clock speed, laptop-mode-tools to spin down the hd, cpudyn to do something or other, etc - but I am not sure any of these control the screen.

If your monitor is dpms compliant, you can use the following lines in XF86Config-4 or xorg.conf to set the screen blanking time:

Section "ServerLayout"
...
Option "StandbyTime" "7"
Option "SuspendTime" "7"
Option "OffTime" "10"
EndSection

Section "Monitor"
...
Option "DPMS"
EndSection

You could probably get more details by searching the forums on "dpms"

Image on disk boots fine on a few Dell Latitude 600's, but same disk crashes Dell Inspirion 1000 at "sending processer term  signal..."
I haven't tried loading cheat codes other than toram. (on 600's it doesn't load initial bus-card graphic; on inpirion it does.  Inspirion has  512 mgs of ram.
