Release Candidates :: DSL v4.0rc4
U removed the mount tool but I cannot mount my pendrive using dfm, it says: must be superuser to mount.
I see this error hittimg ctrl+alt+F1
Also writing mount from bash I got the same error.
No problem issuing sudo mount......
I'll try booting with
base norestore
and see what happens.

OK Robert!
Last thing first. I didn't do any installation I just ran DSL 4.0 RC4 from a cd with the following boot codes: dsl noicons desktop=fluxbox xsetup . But the Background button on DSL panel didn't respond when I was up and running. Here comes the boot sequence:
ramdisk_size=100000
init=/etc/init
lang=us
apm=power-off
vga=791
initrd=minirt24.gz
nomce
noapic
quiet
BOOT_IMAGE=knoppix
BOOT_IMAGE=linux24
noicons
desktop=fluxbox
xsetup
The system stats are more than 400 lines so I won't copy those. And actually I have experienced the same as Juanito that the torsmo display is missing. Sometimes in DSL 4.0 RC4 and all the time in DSL 3.4.3.
Have fun an I hope this is of any help,

noicons implies no dfm. no dfm no background from DSLpanel, as I previously wrote 4 subsystems try to control the background. In DSL 4 dfm is the default and is used for such purpose.
You should not need to be super user to mount a pendrive, unless you have a single partition and it is the one booted from. Suggest to make two partitions. A single partition also breaks the new mydsl system as the single booted partition would necessarily be owned by root. DSL 4 architecture is quite different than v3.x.
Concerning the pendrive mount problem: I was doing the test on a 2 partitions usb pendrive partitioned using the usb dsl installation.
dsl was running frugally from hd.
On a p4 I've also noticed that torsmo doesn't appear (I didn't smoke any joint). I booted dsl from a usb installation with no backup/restore.
