DSL-N :: alternative to xev in DSL-n?

Hi, is there an alternative way of getting keycodes within DSL-n? In DSL I simply used "xev", but DSL-n doesn't appear to have it. I'm hoping this isn't one of those things I'll have to copy off the KNOPPIX cd again...
