HD Install :: Read vs. Write
I want to install Dman Small Linux on my PC but after having finished the installation and having booted the system I can't write anything anymore on hd. This cause it is booting with read-only (fstab and lilo.conf) . I can't cange it, cause it is read-only...How can I change it? or is there an other mistake?
With friendly Greetings G. Marakuja
If it's frugal, not hd, it's supposed to be like that. If it is a hd-install, read-only is not a normal state.. (well in lilo.conf it just means it is mounted ro on boot so it can be fsck'd, but it should be rw in fstab)
Maybe boot DSL livecd, mount it, then change fstab?
Also, make sure you are editing with root privileges.
If you are using a frugal, fstab is generated upon every boot. To use a static one, boot with "nofstab", with /etc/fstab in your backup.tar.gz for example.
For lilo.conf, just create one under your home directory. See frugal_lilo.sh for the basic configuration, and the steps to re-link / before running lilo
jeah thanks it was about the superuser (#su) rights ^^
