Except for laptop users, as Pidgin (incl Gaim) had an ugly bug until 2.02 (I think it was that ver) that kept checking X for screensaver support every 5 seconds, not letting the comp go into lower power modes..

I tried as suggested and the resolution changes appropriately, but the colors are all distorted. I tried several different color settings as well.

- try the other xserver in xsetup (maybe you will need to set your video during boot, see cheatcodes)
- make sure you have set enough memory for your video in your BIOS, if applicable

I tried the other kind of xserver in xsetup and got some sort of message about "No response from X. 0 executions in 0 seconds" or something like that and I had to manually rerun Xsetup from the command line.


Where can I find these "cheatcodes"? How do you have a link to setting up the RAM in the bios?

2. See your motherboard (or laptop) manual, if applicable.
