HD Install :: How can I remove ted from my hd install?

It is type unc that are ignored on hard drive installs.

uci is never installed and only mounted.

As uci was not designed with hard drive installation in mind, the will work, however, upon shutdown they are unmounted just like your drives. You could add the mydsl-load comand for uci to your /opt/bootlocal.sh to mount them again at boot up.
