Yes, DSL doesn't have the tools for reiserfs, just kernel support, so you could either delete from DSL or format from another livecd.

DSL won't boot from reiserfs (as far as my experiences have shown). You will need to format the root partition to ext. You can continue to use reiserfs on the home partition, though.
