Multimedia :: a glitch or silly error on my behalf?

hi folks erm...........i dont know if this is an error but if using the o/s as damnsmall i cant access the cdrom yet can as su i figure this is probably easily resolved but have not yet cracked it. i figure i probably need to chmod summit but unsure what any offers???

should i be looking to amend the ownership of the xine file or access too the cdrom- as this is on a hd install i'm not really fussed on experimenting as it would mean starting from scratch and I,ve added quite a few other apps.
