Multimedia :: XMMS

It plays cd-s but when I want to play a mp3, it tells me to check if some other program is using the sound card and if it is configured...
What could be the problem?

Probably what is happening is that xmms is still holding the sound card from the previous function of playing the CD. Try looking in top for signs of it and then killing the process.
