Multimedia :: Via Audio Chipset Problem in 0.9.x

I'm booting off of a USB key, and when I used 0.8.x my soundcard worked...but now that I'm using 0.9.x my soundcard is detected, but doesn't work. Libao claims the device is in use already when i try to use mpg123...

Just curious if anyone knows why this is?

The 'card' is onboard sound, via chipset. One of the more common ones. Anyway, it worked in the last release but now it doesn't. Know of any changes which could make it not work in this release?

I've installed the ALSA drivers and it works fine...
But it'd still be great to know why the default wont work in the new release ;p That way i don't have to manually do all this stuff at startup...or else i'll figure out how to do it all automated at startup.

But with the ALSA Drivers i have no Mixer/volume control...Any ideas/
Try loading wmix from the fluxbox menu AFTER you have alsa up and running.
Negative...alsa and everything load on bootup.

Its default to booting 'alsa' parameter, then it loads all the .dsl extensions automatically before it gets into X...

Also tried starting wmix AFTER getting into X, still no go.

=\
At least XMMS's equalizer works.

Any other ideas?
