Multimedia :: getting realplayer to work
Here's how I got it to work, (I couldn't install alien to convert the .rpm to .deb)
obtain rp8_linux20_libc6_i386_cs2_rpm from real.com
http://software-dl.real.com/1086dc5....cs2_rpm
I know its long but you wont find it on their site for some reason.
Then get this
ftp://ftp.nerim.net/debian-....386.deb
next goto an xterm or whatever you use console wise
su
cd /to_wherever_you_downloaded realplayer_8.0.11_i386.deb
dpkg -i realplayer_8.0.11_i386.deb
it might tell you package cpio is not installed, if it isn't then,
apt-get install cpio (you might need apt-get too!!!!)
after this my system auto installed the realplayer_installer and ran it.
follow realplayer installer instructions, it will ask for rp8_linux20_libc6_i386_cs2_rpm
follow the rest and its done
Execute Realplayer 8 by typing,
realplayer
in your favourite xterm
did anybody else try this? I see 99 views. Just curious

interesting, I have installed realplayer 10 on many different linux distros several times but at the time I tried, it did not work. I read somewhere, on a debian forum that the installer did not work for any debian based distro. So it does now then. Damn. Bet I looked a bit silly. Oh well, realplayer 8 worked for me. I only wanted it for the bbc websites.
