Multimedia :: onboard sound card probs

i am having trouble with my sound card what i originnally thought was a flash problem i think may be my sound card. when i run the sound configuration at the end it says

The VIA TechnologiesIVT8233 [AC97 Audio Controller] is not currently supported

is there any way to get this to work without putting in another sound card?

Try alsadebs.dsl extension?
