Networking :: Use ndiswrapper to auto-load wireless card
I have just put DSL onto my HDD to make use of an old laptop.
Dell Latitude PII @ 233, 4GB HDD, 64MB, Belkin F5D7010 802.11g/b adaptor.
I have tried to use the ndiswrapper gui with:
driver: .../bcmwl5.inf
device:wlan0
sid: Home
WEP: 1234567890
Unfortunately, the modem doesn't even light up. Can anyone provide any advice?
Hokay, with a little more poking, I have found a linux driver. Can't be sure if it will work or not as it's not "official" (big surprise).
Can anyone tell me how to install a linux driver?
Bueller?
For the new user, it's ugly.
You need to download the kernel source headers, compiler tools and then compile your driver sourch code.
Search the forums for keywords like
Compile AND driver
Ouch. I'm moving around pretty well and using the command line a bit, but I don't think I'm up to compiling anything yet.
Any advice for using the Ndiswrapper GUI? I saw it listed in the "possible with some work" section, but I'm not sure how to get anywhere.
