Networking :: compiling wlan driver

When I run make to compile the rtl8180 driver on dsl here is the error I get.

No Rule To Make Target
/lib/modules/2.4.26/build/.config

I am sure I need to edit something in one of the files but do not know which one or what. Will some one explain this to me.

I would like to put the driver in this directory.

/lib/modules/2.4.26/kernel/net/wireless/ma521/

how do I go about that.
