Networking :: proxy setup

I know this is very basic but, hey check my nick....
I love DSLl and dillo but don't know how to set up a proxy connection.
when I sat proxy connection I'm referring to connect to a public proxy server.
in mozilla or KDE it's very easy but how to do it in DSL?

Example
Bring up the terminal type
Code Sample
env http_proxy=http://203.144.255.71:8080

if your proxy need authentication then
Code Sample
env http_proxy=http://user:pass@203.144.255.71:8080

Thanks,
I tried the command you suggested entering a proxy that I've previously verified and I get a screen full of datas.
yet when I browse with dillo I'm not browsing thru the proxy.
what can be wrong?

slowly getting close.
I've checked the proxy howto and used the command
scite /etc/wgetrc
changed the proxy values but when I try to save the changes it says I can't frite to file
I also tried
scite /KNOPPIX/etc/wgetrc
same thing, I can't write to file
how do I edit /ect/wgetrc or is there another way to connect to a proxy?

Hi,

Thanks for the help on the proxy setup.

I got it to work fine.

But, is it possible to set up the proxy automatically?  Is it possible to have a script that is called on startup?

Regards,

Geoff.
