Networking :: NVIDIA ethernet not recognized

My NVIDIA ethernet (on mobo) is not recognized...no network, no dhcp. It is recognized at boot in Knoppix and Kanotix. How to configure?
Try DSL version 2.1b with newer linux kernel version?
Yes, you need a newer kernel, since ethernet is a new thing for Nvidia.

Thanks,

I am using 2.2.  Guess I'd have to do an HD install and update the kernel. Do PCI ethernet cards work ok?  I might be able to find one of those lying around. I also have a small HD put away that would work....download the kernel to a pen drive using my kanotix box so that I don't have to resort to a modem for the download.

2.1b has a 2.4.31 kernel. 2.2 has the 2.4.26 kernel. It was downgraded for recent versions because of some complaints that it didn't work as well with some older legacy equipment.
