Networking :: IPW2100 version?

what version of the ipw2100 driver is in DSL 0.8.

when i try to insmod it, it says i don't have the appropriate firmware.

Soooo, I need to know the version of the driver so that i can download the appropriate firmware update.

FAQ is progressing slowly, but its coming along.

My guess is that the version is the one from the knoppix 3.4 5-17-2004 version, but John & co can confirm this.

okies, i have downloaded the appropriate firmware

BUT,

the approriate directory to copy it to (/usr/lib/hotplug/firmware) doesn't exist, and, since DSL uses a read only filesystem, it won't let me create the dir, or symlink it to another directory.

any advice?

Install any *.dsl package.

It will create a writable "/usr" structure in your ramdisk (need enough RAM. 96MB is OK. You can probably get away with 64MB if you install a small size *.dsl package)

Then copy your driver to the appropriate destination as user 'root'

If everything checks out OK, you can tar it up into a nice .dsl package for future use and even burn it to the root of your CD-R disk if you want automatic installation.

But first you need to get the thing working...
