hi all got 2 questions about lans How do i share my files to other computors?
and i cannot access the internet once i have my lan up ? the modem dials in but nothing loads in browsers

Does your modem authenticate and connect?

You have to use SAMBA server to share files from DSL to M$ computers

You can open an xterm and use the command:

tail -f /var/log/messages

This way you can watch your modem "talk" to the ISP and see if it connects. Use Ctrl-c to break out of the tail command.

Also check your /etc/resolv.conf to see if you have a nameserver to resolv names to addresses

Thanks for the responce yes my modem does dial in and authenticate just no pages load or any traffic at all. if i reboot everything is fine untill i setup netcardconfig and get the lan up. once i have a lan i have no info coming from the internet . and i have setup smbd for file sharing still have not configed the smbd.conf right yet but gettin closer
