Networking :: Siemens I-Gate 11M not recognized

Hi Folks,

first of all: DSL rocks!!!

Iīve got a serious problem with my w-lan card. It isnīt even recognized by dsl. Anyone got this card working on an equal system? Is there any other possibility than using the ndiswrapper? (donīt want to use this, īcoz my system is already low on RAM and the winDoS-driver needs 32 MB of RAM under winDoS). For that is my only Laptop, iīve never had the chance to test this card. If itīs plugged to the pcmcia-slot the greenish light on the card is on.

Hardware Setup:
Acer Note Light 370 C
P1 150 MHz
16 MB RAM
1 GB HDD
DSL (last stable release) was installed via hd-install.
If more Information is needed please post a reply.

cardmgr[53]: socket 0: Intersil PRISM2 11 Mbps Wireless Adapter
cardmgr[53]: execution: 'modprobe orinoco_cs'

the story so far:
in the meanwhile i tried to bind a bunch of different drivers to the device. In /etc/pcmcia/config there is an entry "Intersil Prism2 Wireless LAN Adapter" wich is bind to "orinoco_cs"

well replaced "orinoco_cs" with "prism2_cs" which doesnīt work. I tried to replace it with "wvlan_cs" but it seems this one isnīt there. So i tried "wavelan_cs" instead. It found the device telling me that this driver donīt fit to this device. So it seems as it would definitly be a driver problem. Iīd like to try the wlan-ng driver instead, but i donīt have a clou how to get this one working. Where do i bind this driver to the device? please help...

well - finally i found out that i probably never would get this card running on that laptop.

the laptop has a pcmcia slot which only supports 5 v . the card needs 3.3 v

because the laptop is very old, it only supports 16bit-pcmcia, while the card is an 32bit adapter.

if anyone else should have this "problem" - here ist what itīs all about!

Ah, this is the cardbus vs the pcmcia voltage issue.
I too have an old laptop and no cardbus type cards will work. Cardbus have a gold colored connector.
