Networking :: netcardconfig problems

help please i dont understad this?
im in embeded copy of dsl2.4 runing on winXP , it automaticalli connect to the internet i dont know where he find the ip ,
any help where theryare.
and my big problem is whene raning the livecd of 2.4 i configured the netcard with the ip i used in windows , it sed done and i cant connect to the internet but i can us the ping command or i can use nmap it work ?
any help pleaseeeeee
