Networking :: Intel PRO/Wireless 2915abg

Does anyone know where I can find drivers for the Intel PRO/Wireless 2915abg mini-PCI card?

Intel's driver website says that it does not support the 2.4 kernel.

Okay, so I have stumpled upon a myDSL extension in 'System' called 'ipw2200-k2.4.31.dsl' that is specifically for the Intel PRO/Wireless 2200bg & the 2915abg mini-PCI cards.

I installed DSL to the hard drive in its own ext3 partition (hda2), then downloaded the above extension (through the wired ethernet port on the laptop), opened up Emlfm, selected the file, then selected myDSL on the Desktop - myDSL opened up and nothing happened.  I also tried to load the local extension through myDSL and still nothing happened after selecting the file.

Now being that I have been a Windows guru since 3.11, but new to Linux, I was first making the assumption that all myDSL extensions are preconfigured to work with DSL 3.0.1 even though it is running Linux kernel 2.4.26 and the info file on the above extension shows it for Linux kernel 2.4.31.  Am I wrong to assume this about myDSL extensions?

Focusing on the problem at hand, is there something else I need to do to 'install' this myDSL extension to get my wireless card working?  Or maybe upgrade the kernel to 2.4.31?

How do install the myDSL extension from the CLI so that I can see it's response?

You don't want to mix modules built for different kernels.
So your options are:

1. Try DSL-N which has prowireless and a 2.6 kernel.
2. Use DSL v 2.1b which has a 2.4.31 kernel
3. Try to compile the modules for 2.4.26 yourself.
4. Check ndiswrapper site to see if it is supported.

MyDSL loading from the command line.

$mydsl-load name_of_extension

I have a Dell Inspiron 700m, and it has Intel/Pro Wireless 2915 abg.  I have tried the ndiswrapper with Windows driver from intel.com using both w29n51.sys and w29n51.inf (both files should be present) on dsl-3.0.1. NDISwrapper successfully detected the hardware and said it was present. However, right after I use iwconfig to configure the network, the whole system hang.  With my system, the wireless panel light lit up (maybe showing the wireless card was detected and initiated), but both the CAP light and the symbol that has a downside arrow reside a lock flash. Then the whole system was not usable, mouse and keyboard were not responsive. Does anyone know how to fix this? Or where did I go wrong?
