Networking :: any news about WPA?

I'm using DSL installed on a USB stick.
I'm trying hard to get wpa to work with madwifi.

but that didn't work for me because wpa_supplicant needs to be compiled against the source ot the madwifi you are using.
Has anyone got this to work? Or will I have to create extensions myself?
Not being able to use wpa is a major showstopper.
