Networking :: actiontec DSL modem usb connection?

i just installed DSL on my old compaq and it is awesome . i am currently trying to connect to the internet with it using an actiontec DSL modem via a USB cable. DHCP is enabled, but it is not working.

if anyone could provide me with information on how i would possibly get this working, i would be gratefull
