Networking :: help cannot connect to net

hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite A80 laptop with a IntelCorp/Pro/Wireless 2915ABG mini PC adaptor and driver version 9.0.1.9  I need help to go onto the net.

I don't know how to setup DSL to connect to net. Any help will be appreciated. I can connect with PCLinuxOS by using the wlassistant program that recognises my card and I only have to put in the ssid and wep key. but not sure about Damn Small Linux, which programs to use?

I am a newbie, and have searched the net for the answer but getting more and more confused.

I can use the DSL embedded but again don't know where to look for details of what is what as regards to wireless.

thanks

It appears you'll need to use the ipw2200 driver, from the intel website.  (or you could try ndiswrapper)

However, there seems to be problems with it in current dsl.

Here's some recent links:

It seems the temporary solution would be to use dsl 2.1b or dsl-n.

hello

thank you for replying promptly

yes, I will try the ipw2200 driver, but don't know how to apply it and worst still with the ndiswrapper. Will have to read more on the forums.

I had a look on the intel driver site and it seems that only kernel above 2.4.6 supports it, so I might have to wait until then.

however I can use PCLinuxOS but cannot install it to  harddisk because of the NTFS of my harddisk, and they do not support it. It picks up the wireless ok.

All the others distros have some problems or other with recognising the wireless adaptor again.

thanks

I think you misunderstand the problem, but it doesn't really matter.  ( currently DSL's default kernel is 2.4.26 ).

But it should work with those versions I have listed.
