Networking :: network configuration

hello,
excused for my english I will try to be the piu clearly possible.
when i boat dsl in live mode the network card is autoconfigure and i dont have a problem to connect internet,but when install dsl in my hd the network card is not configuraded and using ppoeconf i have the message that network card not found.
Why?thanks
