Networking :: 3com PCMCIA 10/100 - 3c575

If you can copy the knoppix iso to your old laptop hd, you can boot it from the dsl boot prompt and use it to test the card using:

dsl bootfrom=/dev/hda1/path-to-iso/KNOPPIX*.iso

I booted Knoppix with the prior post suggestion.  The network card still doesn't work.  At this point I am thinking there is a problem with the pcmcia slot.  I don't have any other pcmcia devices to try it out with nor do I have any other network cards to try.  The rest of my hardware all has built in network cards.

Thanks for the suggestions.

There's a pcmcia button on the DSL control panel that you could try - I seem to remember you can re-set the slot with this applet, it might be worth a try...
This in my final post as I am moving on from trying to get this card to work.  Also yesterday I accidentally smashed up the dongle a little, it still works (on the newer dell) however it is bent.  I hate dongles.  I forgot what a pain those things are!!!!

I came across another card to test.  This was a Symbol PCMCIA Wireless B card I didn't write down the driver it was using or the lspci info (I was excited about it working and forgot to check).  This thing worked with little effort.  Once I figured out how to get WEP working I was connected to my wireless network with 128 WEP without any issues.

I am going to test a cheap airlink101 pcmcia card from Frys.  If that works then I am in happy and came move on with what I am really trying to get accomplished.

Thanks for the input.  To bad this post does not end in success for the 3c575 card...
