Networking :: Latest score XP-3 DSL-0. WIFI Frustration!!

I have just about got to the stage where I cant see a way to resolve this problem.  I setup a new ADSL router at the weekend, and implemented WEP with 128bit KEY.  Previously my old router was open and all the PC's on my network (including my beloved Libretto DSL box) worked just fine.

When I set up WEP I got my other three PC's (XP and Vista) up in around 10 minutes. In fact all I had to do was enter the WEP key and presto they work just fine.

But oh no, not Linux, not DSL that would just be far to intuitive!  Three days later I still cant get it working.

Its a Toshiba Libretto with an Orinoco Silver card installed.  When I try and use WLCARDCONFIG it reports that no wireless card is installed.  If I enter

pump -i etho

it returns a message to say operation failed, even though the card lights up for a second when trying.

I cant see any logical way to setup the WEP key for the card, so its frankly got me stumped.

iwcofnig sees the card just fine, I shouldnt need NDISWRAPPER for this card as its supported out of the box.

This is frustrating, can anyone help?

Hello

Are you entering your wep key in all caps, with colons?

e.g.  XX:XX:XX:XX:XX
,

Errr nope!

But where do I enter it?

Keen to try it though...

pump -i etho
That would be eth0.. but actually since you're using wifi, wouldn't it be wlan0?

Check out http://damnsmalllinux.org/wiki/index.php/DSLPanel

shouldn't it be "pump -i ath0" for an orinoco card?
