Networking :: Wireless...how do you set it up / is there a guide
Hi again.
Someone chucked out a PIII so I said I'd get it going for a cash strapped friend.
I've bought a wireless PCI card for it ( recommended in the DSL Linux cards wiki) - a LinkSys WMP55AG).
Please can someone explain or point me to where I might find a DSL instruction/installation guide on how to install this. I've got wireless enabled on my 3com router and no encryption/DHCP is activated. I've tried running Ndiswrapper and put 'ath0' in the device field and sid:12 and there's activity from the card but then 'Connection failed'...obviously I haven't a clue!
Is there a tool that lists the wireless networks and let's you click on one to connect?
thanks for your help everyone.
Something like that: Wireless network sniffer, Kismet.. It shows all the wireless networks around, but for connecting use just "sudo wlcardconfig" (unless it needs ndiswrapper, I have no clue about that)
Ok, thanks. Please could someone spare some advice how I might set u this wireless card? I have tried searching on the web...which tool would I use in the control panel? Bear in mind this card is on the recommended list so hopefully it will be straightforward to get going.
For my Linksys WPC11 card I used ndiswrapper, setting the path to it's driver.
Could you clarify what you mean by your last post please jpeters? What driver? A windows driver?
