Networking :: dsl is hopeless - can't configure wifi

This might be the kicker...

iwconfig shows an ssid of "linksys" - that's not my ssid. I can connect by default as long as my neighbor's access point is functional.

When I try to connect to my access point by identifying the ssid channel and wep key, that's when the spaghetti hits the fan.

How do I stop the card from connecting automatically? Add nodhcp  as a cheat code? Maybe that's it...

Adding nodhcp as a boot code makes it possible to connect using the DSL Control Panel iwconfig applet.

But... no matter what I do the settings do not persist. I've tried rebooting from the exit menu with the backup checkbox on and I tried the backup/restore applet in the DSL CP.

I'm asking, "which script do I modify and what's the command?" Set essid: channel: wep:

I've seen different answers. Hopefully someone who knows will see this and respond with the right answer. Thanks.

In 4.0 look in your home directory.
If you are expecting it to automatically connect upon reboot, it does not. You need to click the wireless icon in home directory.

Is it possible to get this to be done automatically on boot some way?

I want my wireless network to connect on boot.

Sure, add it to bootlocal.sh.  I've written some instructions here.
