Networking :: Is WPA wireless authentication supported?
I tried running a release of DSL last night. Not positive I was using the very latest version, but I am positive it is a copy downloaded this year, probably within the past three months or so. If that is of critical importance, I can get the version and/or just download the latest version.
On my wired desktop, it works just fine. On my laptop it works too, but when I tried wireless, I saw an option to select WEP authentication, but not WPA. First, is it supported, and second, is it in the GUI or do I have to do it manually. It's pretty clear how to use it in the other distros that have supported my config so far, but I have not determined the exact steps with DSL yet.
Can anyone ease my entry into this? I know a lot of areas well, but wireless is something I've not quite mastered yet, so any tips, even with the use of iwconfig, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
wpa_supplicant was included in DSL 3.3
WPA is more complicated than WEP, that's why it's not supported in the GUI.
As ^hats^ said, wpa_supplicant, the command line tool every distro uses, is included.
I have seen wpa_supplicant work with ndiswrapper with DSL.
The details have been posted in these forums many times.
I have not written a GUI simply because I don't own such equipment.
Perhaps one who does will modify the existing WEP version.
