Networking :: Cisco Aironet 350 Wireless Card Configuration
I'm new to DSL and am having difficulty getting my Aironet 350 card to work. I've tried several configurations, but nothing works--I cannot connect to a wireless router, with or without encryption.
Here's some info on my card:
[/home/dsl]# cardctl ident
Socket 1:
product info: "3Com Corporation", "3CCFE575BT", "LAN Cardbus Card", "001"
manfid: 0x0101, 0x5157

[/home/dsl]# cardctl config

interface type is "memory and I/O"

[/home/dsl]# cardctl status

Here's the configuration command I've been using (key x'd out):
[/home/dsl]# iwconfig wifi0 mode managed essid runway channel 10 key xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
Here's the result--no connection to essid "runway"! ?
[/home/dsl]# iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

The pump command results in a failure:
/home/dsl]# pump -i wifi0
Operation failed.
[/home/dsl]#
One thing I noticed in using iwlist--see below.
[/home/dsl]# iwlist wifi0 power
wifi0 Supported modes :
o Receive all packets (unicast & multicast)
o Receive Unicast only (discard multicast)
o Receive Multicast only (discard unicast)
Fixed period ; min period:0us
max period:5s
Fixed timeout ; min timeout:0us
max timeout:67.1078s
Current mode:off
Looks like the receiver mode is off. How do I turn it on?
Maybe this is my problem with this card.
Would appreciate some help with this.
Just a quick question: did you try the iwconfig gui tool? (in DSLPanel)
Yes, I used the GUI tool, and no joy--it still did not connect.
Well, I don't know what happened. I opened the DSL panel and clicked on "lwconfig" and "OK". The card connected! I did not enter any information--just accepted the defaults. However, when I do a 'iwlist eth0 scanning' I don't see the router that I'm connected to (looking at the hardware addresses listed).
OK, I see the router I'm connected to now. I must have overlooked it earlier.
