Networking :: Retaining network card settings

Hi

Once I have setup my network card (wireless) and typed in my encryption key, DSL works fine accessing internet etc.

But how can I retain these settings upon the next boot. I am backing up my settings via the control panel and it remembers desktop style, but not the network settings.

Is there a simple way to do this?

Its getting boring typing my encryption key in every time I use DSL.

Thanks
:)

If you are typing them at the shell prompt, open /opt/bootlocal.sh and type them there. Also check that /opt/bootlocal.sh is in your filetool.lst and then they will be included in the backup/restore.

If you happen to be using the prism2 GUI from the control panel then your settings are written to /opt/myprism2.sh, so you can just add /opt/myprism2.sh to your filetool.lst and they will be included in the backup/restore.

Thanks for that.

Trouble is I never type them in at the shell prompt, I just follow the bouncing ball on netcardconfig and wlancardconfig.

I wouldnt know how to set them manually.

Although all I have to do is set the SSID and the encryption key for the wireless card.

Suppose I'll have to go and find out.

Thanks

Got a great little bootlocal.sh script

Then back up via the control panel

Next time I boot, it never remembers

I even tried pointing it to on the harddrive /mnt/hda2/bootlocal.sh

Still no joy.

If I run the script it works though.

Guess I'll have to do a bit more research!

Its working now, hooray!! Straight on the network

:-)
