Networking :: Internet -- no, this is NOT a repeat post

I searched the forums AND the documentation and didn't find anything....so....

I am connected via an ethernet cable to a Linksys bridge that receives a connection from a router. I found nothing in the documentation as to this type of setup. Now, how do I connect D-nSmallLinux to my connection? (lol)

The DSL-embedded that I have connects immediately, but when I boot from the CD it does not connect. Can I connect from DSL without impairing my Windows XP Home connection? And can I connect at all with this setup?

I have the latest version of DSL. . um. . .DSL1.0RC1 I think, right?

I'd say it works in embedded because you are running inside a system which has already been properly configured.  DSL is probably using your XP system's connection rather than setting up its own....same thing you'd get running linux on windows inside vmware.

Do you use DHCP with your router?  If not you'll probably need to set up your network manually.

What is DHCP? And how would I set it up manually?
Look at your Windows XP Network settings.
There should be a TCP/IP window there.

Does the window have

"Obtain IP address automatically" selected under TCP/IP properties?

If so, then you have DHCP enabled for your router.

I can have it obtained automatically, but then I can't, because I have computers getting info off mine locating it by the local IP address :(
