Networking :: speedtouch usb 330 modem.0

Just done h/d install of dsl 1.0 and am mighty impressed. Only thing is i have usb speedtouch 330 modem, can fire it up using speedtouchconf on most linux distros....dual boot just now with kanotix but am stuck with dsl. How can i install packages required by speedtouchconf such as gcc+= without internet connection? Dpkg isnt recongnised so i cant just copy packages acroos and install them from kanotix install. Any ideas how to get usb modem to work?

Boot into your other OS and download the gcc1.dsl extension.

Then install it by rebooting into DSL and opening Emelfm and mounting your hard drive partition and then highlight the gcc1.dsl file and push the "MyDSL" button that is located inside the file manager window.

Many thanx for the info - got me so far down the road but i must need something else to configure this modem. Firmware doesnt seem to load - Im trying to get this to work as pppoa but my knowledge of linux is still at an early stage - will keep looking tho. Thanx again

Quick update - success - i just compiled the speedtouch package from sourceforge and installed without a hitch. Online, and happy dude thanx 2 u.

I have read this post and searched on google and the web, and although there is a little information there, I am a n00b and technically juvenile with linux.

i am running a p3-800/128/ubuntu/gnome at the moment. whilst i do like it and has been cool, with this amount of ram, it is too slow. i have downloaded numerous version of dsl and really like it, but have never used it as my main/any permanent o/s. i want to.

i have a speedtouch 330. beagle2 i note that you were able to get yours running after you got help from cbagger01. i was wonder if either of you could detail a little more the steps involved. i know you say to download the gcc1.dsl extension. where do i find this? and where do i save it so that dsl is able to see it.

i dont know the commands involved to compile it, so instructions or pointers there would be helpful. hope to be speed surfing soon. thanks in advance

is there a wiki/howto page that gives instructions you could point me to?
