Networking :: Users in Dovecot IMAP server

I've been working to get an IMAP server up for a while, but I have hit a snag that I can't seem to understand, much less beat. What would I have to do to get a user created in Dovecot IMAP? There's a lot of info here, but I can't seen to get it to work at all. I don't need anything fancy, I just want to create a single user with the name arew264 and password of paswd (to be changed later). Could someone help me out here? I would really appreciate anything you could do to help.

OK, update:
I did find a page on how to create a static user database, but it doean't seem to work. COuld someone help me create a mysql database for my dovecot users and passwords?
