Networking :: hsp56 modem drivers

I´m in migration of microsoft window$ to linux and have the problem to put the drivers of a modem hsp56 to a intel dot station i have surf and meet these web .

i`m a beginer... (i put the text you put the music..)

i´m working on the procedure of the web link , i tar 0.9.6 modem driver file and the problems begin with the point 7.7 Directory of the kernel source files.

the default location is /usr/src/linux, where is the same in dsl ??

i spent 4 hours of recreational linux traying to resolve the cuestion...(my first 4 hours with a console in linux).

The kernel headers are available as the poorly named kernelsources.dsl.

If you need the full source, you can get the 2.4.26 vanilla kernel from kernel.org and apply the knoppix patchfiles from the kernelsources.dsl

I get de kernel of the repository of dsl (thanks saidin) but dónt work its necesary the gcc 3 hours afther i get gcc in the repository dsl and now the situation is these:

1º get kernel source , gcc (compiler?) and pctel driver pctel-0.9.6 for kernel 2.4.x

2º run kernel , run gcc

3º begin the instalation, emlf as super user.

4º tar -xzvf pctel-o.9.6.tar.gz

5º cd pctel-0.9.6

6º ./configure --with-hal=i8xx ( my motherboard..if not previus ./configure --with-hal=list ,and see your motherboard)

7º make

8º make install

9 load the drivers
insmod pctel answer (operation not permited..taint )??

insmod ptserial answer (unresolved symbol..several times ??

who are wrong ?? in point 9
