Networking :: Modems that work in DSL
What modems work really well in DSL? I'm interested in the brand, model number, and where you got it.
Basicly, hardware modems.
Cheapest. Hardware. Modem. Ever.
I am currently using a US Robotics Performance Pro 5610B,I have two of them. One I purchased from Walmart and the other at Staples here in the USA.
I also have a Best Data external modem model 56SX-92 that was picked up at an Office Max. Both modems work well with DSL and most if not all Linux distros I've tried.

Zoom modem worked fine on every distro i tried
Don't make the following mistake.
I went to Wal-Mart to look for a modem. I found an internal modem made by some company called Stratitec. On the package, it said:
"For Windows® 98 or later"
"For Linux® kernel 2.4 or later"
"Plug-and-Play"
Once I opened the package, it had a link to their site about Linux setup instructions. That page referenced the ltmodem drivers. I just learned that it's another soft modem. From that experience, i'll never buy another internal modem again, especially one that says "controllerless" or "for Windows only".
This time, I'll do more research before I start buying another modem.
