Laptops :: Unusually light screen?

should anyone come across this again, it's a resolution problem.

from the boot: screen, I had to pass the dsl vga= in order to alleviate the problem.

I had the same issue until I used fb800x600.

during boot you should use the boot option dsl xsetup ( i think that is the one). After a while you may be asked whether you like xvesa xserver or
xfbdev xserver.

Try xfbdev.
